Opening a NEAR wallet

An easy way of opening a wallet is using a NEAR drop given to you. It can come as a link or a QR code and can be used only once.

You can also go to wallet.near.org to open a wallet. In this case you will need to use your credit or debit card to buy an initial amount of NEAR to top up your wallet.

Follow the onscreen instructions to choose your unique name and to reveal your 12 words seedphrase. You can use a private browsing window so your information will not be stored in the device.

After you have your wallet, you can use it to login to blockchain compatible websites (also called web3 sites). There is no need to register a separate account with username and password. Your wallet is now your credentials.

Your wallet is also your signature of authenticity as an artist. When you mint NFTs, they are registered on the blockchain with your wallet address and the date stamp. This is a permanent record that establishes provenance and authenticity for digital artworks.
